At fette, we value and prioritize transparency when it comes to sustainability because we are very familiar with how difficult it is to navigate the sustainable business space as a consumer. As students, trying to make affordable, ethical, and environmentally-friendly choices can be really confusing and overwhelming. One of the major reasons finding sustainable brands due to a concept in business called greenwashing, which is a marketing strategy in which companies use "eco-friendly" phrasing and imaging to deceive consumers into thinking the company is making sustainable products. Hi, welcome back! Because we want to foster a community of education and cool people doing cool things for the planet, we want to showcase as many organizations or activists that we can. Today we're featuring a really badass company: Glass Half Full NOLA. Glass Half Full started because of inspiration similar to ours here at fette! After noticing a lot of glass trash littering their city, and fed up with the lack of glass recycling there, founders Franziska and Max started their company to repurpose the glass waste. Glass Half Full collects glass waste to be recycled into sand and larger gravel for reuse! Glass Half Full collects over 30,000 pounds of glass every week through their drop off...
Welcome back! In order to introduce you to fette, we have to start with the core of our company values and goals: sustainability. Both red solo cups are made out of No. 6 plastic, which is VERY difficult to recycle. It's so difficult, in fact, that most curbside pickup recycling programs don't accept products made out of No. 6 plastic. HINT: Recycling plants don't do a lot of sorting, so if a non-recyclable item is found in the batch, the whole batch is sent to the landfill. That means recyclable items get thrown out too!
